🏞️ Kelly Hondula studies the effects of water movement through landscapes, with the goals of improving water resource management and leveraging new monitoring technologies. She focuses on the interaction of hydrological and biogeochemical processes, especially in headwaters and the smallest water bodies.

πŸ—Ί She is currently a postdoc at the National Ecological Observatory Network, studying new techniques for mapping aquatic ecosystems and water quality by integrating airborne and ground-based aquatic data.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» In her previous role at the National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center, Hondula served on a small team of data scientists supporting diverse computational and analytical needs of interdisciplinary research teams.

πŸ† Her work promoting open science has been supported by the WikiMedia foundation and a data science fellowship from the non-profit organization rOpenSci.

πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“ Dr. Hondula received her PhD in Marine, Estuarine and Environmental Sciences from the University of Maryland in 2021 and holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia.

✍️ See google scholar for her publications which include research on food waste and biodiversity, stable isotopes, ecological restoration, stormwater, flood risk, and more.
